Curly Hair Extensions in Dublin

With curly hair, getting the length right is only half the job.

Get the curl or weight wrong and it can be obvious, even if the colour match is perfect.

Most clients don’t come in knowing whether they need wefts, I-tips, tapes or something else. Usually, it’s more useful to show us your hair and tell us what’s bothering you or what you’d like more of: length, fullness, shape or a bit of everything.

Curly Extensions Aren’t Just Straight Extensions With a Curl Added

Texture changes how extensions need to be chosen.

Curls are less forgiving. The curl pattern matters, but so does the density and weight. If those are off, the extensions can look separate from your own hair.

And “curly” can mean a lot of different things.

Someone with loose waves is looking for something very different from someone with tighter curls or coily, highly textured hair. Lush Virgin Hair works across wavy, curly and textured finishes, including options for 3a–4c hair.

What we look at before choosing curly extensions

A consultation usually starts with:

  • your natural curl or texture
  • your hair density
  • your current length
  • where you actually want more hair
  • how much length you want
  • whether you normally wear your hair curly, stretched or straight
  • how defined or full you want the final shape
  • your usual parting
  • whether you wear your hair up a lot
  • how much maintenance you realistically want to deal with

Photos help too.

If there’s a particular curl, shape or overall style you have in mind, bring it with you. A photo is usually much easier than trying to explain exactly what kind of curl or shape you mean.

What Types of Curly Hair Extensions Are Available?

Curly and textured extension hair can be used with several different applications. The fitting method and the texture are two separate choices, and both need to make sense together.

Curly Weft Extensions

Wefts are often considered when you want a noticeable amount of extra hair.

Because the extensions are fitted in rows, they can build fullness quickly and are useful when you want more length as well as a fuller shape.

With curly hair, this is where the blend really matters. You don’t want to be able to see the point where your own hair stops and the extension hair starts.

Curly I-Tips and Micro-Links

I-tips give us more individual placement.

Small sections of extension hair are fitted using discreet beads instead of adding a complete row.

That can be useful when we only need extra density in certain areas rather than everywhere.

It also gives the hair a more individually distributed feel, which can help with movement.

Curly Tape-In Extensions

Tape-ins use slim sections of hair fitted close to the natural hair.

They can add length or fullness without using a row-based weft.

With curly hair, the texture still has to sit well beside your own, and the amount matters too. Adding more hair than you actually need rarely improves the blend.

Sew-In Extensions for Curly and Textured Styles

A sew-in is another option for building a fuller curly or textured style.

Depending on the fitting, some natural hair may be left out to blend with the extensions, or the style can use fuller coverage.

Where there is leave-out, the relationship between your own texture and the extension hair becomes especially important.

Curly Extension Methods at a Glance

Extension option Often considered for Application Worth thinking about
Curly wefts More noticeable fullness and length Extension hair is fitted in rows Texture and density need to blend naturally with the client’s hair
Curly I-tips / micro-links Individual placement and movement Small sections are attached using discreet beads Useful when extra hair is needed in particular areas rather than everywhere
Curly tape-ins Added length or density with a flatter application Slim extension sections sit close to the natural hair The amount used should make sense beside the client’s own density
Curly sew-in Fuller styles or greater coverage Extension hair is sewn into the chosen foundation The style may include natural leave-out or fuller coverage

You don’t need to decide between these before your appointment. It’s much easier once we’ve actually seen your hair.

Matching Curl and Texture Is Where the Difference Shows

Colour matching is fairly easy to understand. Texture is where things get more interesting.

Two heads of curly hair can be the same colour and still look completely different.

We look at how your hair actually behaves. It might be tighter in some places, looser in others, or look completely different once it has dried and settled. That matters more than forcing it into one curl category.

The goal isn’t necessarily to find a curl that looks identical strand for strand.

What matters is how it all looks together.

Do You Want More Length, More Curls or More Fullness?

These are different goals, even though people often group them together.

Can curly extensions be used just for volume?

Yes. Curly extensions can be used to add density without changing your length very much.

This is useful when the hair already has a good length but the ends feel thin or the overall shape lacks fullness.

Sometimes a bit more density through the ends is enough to make the whole shape look fuller.

What if I want much longer curly hair?

Then we pay more attention to how your current length blends into the extension hair.

The bigger the change in length, the more important the distribution and amount of hair become. You want the extra length to look like part of the style, not like it has simply been added underneath.

What Happens at a Lush Curls Consultation?

The consultation is fairly straightforward.

1. We look at your natural texture
We start with the hair you actually have: curl pattern, density, length and shape.

2. You show us where you want to get to
You might want longer hair, fuller ends, more volume around the sides or a completely different shape.

3. We look at texture options
We compare textures and work out what is likely to sit naturally beside your own hair.

4. We discuss the application
Once we’ve seen the hair, we can talk sensibly about wefts, I-tips, tapes or another suitable method.

5. We cover day-to-day maintenance
We’ll also talk about what you actually do with your hair between appointments, because that matters.

If you regularly switch between wearing your natural texture and wearing the hair stretched or styled differently, mention that. It’s useful to know before anything is fitted.

What About 3a to 4c Hair?

Lush Virgin Hair works with textured hair across the 3a–4c range.

Those labels can be a useful starting point, but they don’t tell us everything. Two people who both describe their hair as the same curl type can still have very different density, shrinkage and styling habits.

So we won’t choose extension hair from a number alone.

We’ll look at your actual hair and how you usually wear it.

Your Natural Hair Doesn’t Have to Have One Perfect Curl Pattern

Most curly hair doesn’t.

You may have tighter sections, looser sections and areas that behave completely differently depending on the weather, products or how recently you washed it.

That’s normal.

It’s also why texture matching shouldn’t become a search for one supposedly perfect curl number.

What matters is how it all looks together.

If two textures work well once styled and blended, that can make far more sense than chasing an exact pattern that doesn’t really represent your hair in the first place.

Living With Curly Hair Extensions

Curly extensions have their own day-to-day rhythm.

You’re looking after two things at once: the extension fitting itself and the curls. That affects how you detangle, wash, dry and style the hair.

Can I wear curly extensions up?

Often, yes. Your styling flexibility will depend on the fitting and placement.

If you love a high ponytail, tend to wear your curls piled up or regularly change your parting, tell us before fitting.

Those aren’t small details.

They can affect how the extensions are positioned.

Will I need to style my own hair to blend with the extensions?

That varies from one person to another.

A close texture match can reduce the amount of blending needed, but how you normally style your hair still matters. If you usually define, stretch or style your curls in a particular way, tell us.

For washing, detangling and ongoing care, our Hair Extension Aftercare guide covers the practical side in more detail.

Curly Hair Extensions Dublin FAQs

Can you match extensions to my natural curls?

Yes. Texture matching is part of the consultation. We look at your hair, how you normally style it and the kind of shape you’re after rather than relying on a curl-type label alone.

Do you offer extensions for 3a to 4c hair?

Yes. Lush Virgin Hair works with textured hair options across the 3a–4c range, as well as wavy and other curly textures.

Which extension method is best for curly hair?

There isn’t one method that suits every head of curly hair. Hair density, length, texture, styling habits and the amount of hair being added all matter.

Can curly extensions be used just to make my hair look thicker?

Yes. You don’t have to add a lot of length. Extensions can be used to build density or fill out finer-looking ends.

Can I get curly hair extensions if my curl pattern varies?

Yes. Most curly hair isn’t completely uniform anyway. We look at how the different textures work together rather than expecting every section to match exactly.

Can I wear curly extensions in a ponytail or upstyle?

Often, yes. Tell us how you normally wear your hair before fitting, as placement can affect how naturally the hair sits when worn up.

How much do curly hair extensions cost?

The cost varies according to the fitting method, length and amount of extension hair required. We can confirm what is needed once we’ve seen your hair and talked through what you want.
